READ THIS IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED "SINGAW"
OR MOUTH SORE :)
I have experienced countless of health problems like asthma, broken bones, high fever, flu, diarrhea, etc but the worst of all is having a singaw. The fact that your reading this means you too have experienced it, isn’t it the worst thing ever?
Singaw, mouth sore in English, is definitely annoying and the “top 1 day ruiner” for me. It’s so small and yet it affects everything! It’s less than the size of a green pea and I had bumps and bruises bigger than a tennis ball but it doesn’t compare to the agony and pain a singaw brings. Can’t eat right, can’t kiss anyone, grouchy the whole day, stale saliva in my mouth - the list would go on and on.... With so much tiring effort to remedy it makes you wonder why it happened. I tried everything from the painful tawas to the expensive pyralvex but then all I can do is wait every morning and pray for a healing miracle.
After days of crushing and agonizing torment, the wound finally healed. With all my strength I looked to the mirror to again move my lips and flash my smile, and then it hit me how small things matter.
How many times have the small things, like a singaw, ruined your day?
Remember the day when your hair was cut half an inch short and for weeks you hated your hair, how about the time when your button fell from your polo and you were forced to use a safety pin to keep it together, how about the small hole in your tire that forced you to stressfully replace it, how about the time when your pants was shamefully too short, how about the time when you failed an important exam because you were a point short from passing, how about you and your bf/gf had a big fight because of not receiving a text... Depressing isn’t it?
In life the small things matter and add to the great and worst things that may happen. Enough of the small things that ruined your day, what about the small things that makes life wonderful?
Remember that special moment that led to a kiss and hug that you just had, remember the first time you heard the toll gate person greeted you good morning, remember the one peso that gave you relief that you had enough money to go home, remember the small leftover soap that you used for that refreshing shower before you aced your job interview, remember the short text message that made you laugh and smile all day, remember that quote or that line from an author that made you change your life... Aren’t those the small things worth living for?
I am proud to say that my breath smells better now that my singaw is gone. It’s an amazing feeling to smile again without the stingy hurt. Forgive the cliché, great and worst things start from small beginnings... :)
